mini watermelon with cumquats and bottles

A$4,200.00

60 × 40cm original oil painting on canvas (un-stretched and unframed).

As the days have cooled, my garden has slowed and all of the blooms have gone to seed. My dahlias are all finished and I am lifting, dividing and storing my tubers for the winter. It has been a little sad to not have my favourite floral subjects to paint but an early morning horse ride up to the orchard at the top of the hill gifted me with these delightful cumquats. Along with the almost candy-like mini watermelon from our local markets, they seemed like the fitting subject for a still life painting!
