Rockmelon cumquats
60 × 40cm original oil painting on canvas on board (unframed).
As the days have cooled, my garden has slowed and all of the blooms have gone to seed. My dahlias are all finished and I am lifting, dividing and storing my tubers for the winter. It has been a little sad to not have my latest favourite floral subjects to paint but an early morning horse ride up to the orchard at the top of the hill gifted me with these delightful cumquats. They seemed like the fitting subject for a still life painting, paired with some rockmelon slices for breakfast.
